A jacket in July

I’m not complaining by any means, a jacket in July? Why yes, I’ll wear one. Today may be the fifth jacket friendly day in twenty-nine of this fabulous month.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a jacket in my suitcase while in Chattanooga. Everything had made it to the coffee table when May said “I’ll put all that in the suitcase if you want to finish getting ready”. Lucky for me there were a couple jacket friendly days and a freshly laundered one had been left among the suitcase fillings.

Sir HotsALot has been working a lot lately, including some weekends, so we needed a break. We found out Friday that he didn’t have to work, so it was pretty much a “fly by the seat of our pants” mini-vaycay.

We picked up Lovely and Diamond and headed out for breakfast and were on our way. “Pepaw, are we there yet?” Diamond asked shortly thereafter, and again, and again.

Chattanooga was pretty busy when we arrived and we had a few hours to burn while our room was being ready. We headed to the aquarium. Parking was a little tricky, but the lots further away from the aquarium are about half the price of the close ones.

The aquarium has gotten bigger since last we went. They still have the ray petting tank though.

Did I mention we took 150 pics on the camera alone? {Wondering how I ever survived roll film lol} There were so many cool things, seahorses, sea dragons, jelly fish, sharks, rays, even

We really love the aquarium. It has grown so much that it took us two days to see it all.

After we checked into the hotel we decided it would be fun to head up to Raccoon Mountain and let the girls do a little gem panning.

The next morning we went back downtown to the river side of the aquarium. Turns out it was a good call going ahead and opting for the family season pass. It was within ten cents of the same cost of individual tickets. Besides, Chattanooga is only a couple hours away.

Of course on the second day the girls had to play in the creeks again.

It’s pretty chilly out this morning, another jacket kinda day in July. When I pulled my jacket out of the dryer, I couldn’t help but think about how much fun we had the last time I needed a jacket in July.
